The Association organised the much awaited annual BIA-ROMAN Cricket Match on 3rd March, 2018 at Mhatre Cricket Ground, Juhu, Mumbai.
The event was attended with much enthusiasm. There were about 40 members participated in the match and more than 100 members along with their families witnessed match and encouraged the members who were taking part in the match as players.

The Association organised a full-day Seminar on “The Art and Science of Effective Selling” on 20th February, 2018 at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai. The Seminar dwelt with Objection Handling, Elevator Speech & Probing, 4 Habits of effective selling, Sales Burger Concept, Handling Customer Attitudes, etc. The Seminar was conducted by Mr.Santosh Nair, one of the leading motivational speakers.
The Association organised a half-a-day Training Programme on “Export Incentives” on 15th February, 2018. The programme dwelt with various schemes. viz. Duty Drawback, Advance Authorisation, Duty Free Import Authorisation, EPCG, Merchandise Export from India and Service Export from India. The Programme was conducted by Mr. Ajit Shah, who is on the BIA Panel of Consultants. The programme was followed by question & answer session. The participants found the programme more educative and useful.
Every year BIA takes part in Mumbai Marathon. This year TATA MUMBAI MARATHON was held on Sunday, the 21st January, 2018. A large contingent of 95 BIA members participated in the event organised by BIA.
The participation of more than 95 members in the event gave more mileage and an excellent opportunity to members to create branding. It also enabled members to have networking among the participants in furtherance of their business interests.
The very purpose of BIA participating in the event was to support the noble cause for which the event was organised.
The event was an memorable experience for the BIA members and it was fantastic event.
The Association had organised NEW YEAR BASH to welcome the President of the Association, Shri Ajit Singh Ahluwalia. The New Year Bash started with a dance and music revelry at Junk Yard Café, Hill Road, Bandra wherein the members got an opportunity to learn few salsa steps on the Bollywood Music from DJ. More than 95 members along with their spouses attended and enjoyed the evening.
The first EC meeting was also held on the sidelines.

It is time for the new President takes over the reins of the Association at the Installation Ceremony. The grand event, 54th Installation Ceremony, was held on 16th November, 2017 from 6.30 p.m. onwards at Hyatt Regency, Airport road, Mumbai.
Mr. Ajit Singh Ahluwalia, Managing Director,Surindra Engineering Co.Ltd., employing more than 350 employees and one of the largest pipe manufacturing companies in India, took over the reins of the Association as President at the glittering event. Mr. Ajit Singh Ahluwalia declared “TIME TO TRANSFORM” as the theme for the year.
Mr. Jeenanath Shetty handed over the charge to Mr. Ajit Singh Ahluwalia.
Mr. Harsh Mariwala, Chairman, Marico Limited, was the Chief Guest, and Mr. Rajesh Narain Gupta, Managing Partner SNG & Partners was the Guest of Honour.
Mr. Sanjiv Lathia, Sr.Past President, was felicitated for his outstanding contribution to the Association.
During the function BIA APP was launched to enable members to keep in touch with the activities of the association and benefit from the same as also for better and quick interaction between members and the association.
As per the Prime Minister’s START UP INDIA programme, the Association offered platform for two start up companies viz. Falcon Control Systems & Automation (P) ltd. And Speedbox for making presentation about their products.
The function was attended by more than 500 comprising of members & their members, representative of Consulates and industrialists.
The members had a quality time in networking with invitees.

It passed by several revisions - in 1994, 2000 and 2008. The latest revision of ISO 9001:2015 was published in September 2015 and is going to be mandatory to upgrade to ISO 9001:2015 from ISO 9001:2008.

Bombay Industries Association conducted a seminar “GST: Implementation on Tally.ERP9”. This program was sponsored and hosted by Edelweiss at their headquarters in Kalina, Mumbai. Our speaker Mr Parvez Ansari from Anraweb Solutions showed the prosess of entering invoices, and uploading your invoices step by step using Tally. Participants also heard from Mr Sajal Gupta who is the head of Edelweiss FX and Rates division. He gave a small talk on Forex hedging and Forex market.
As you are aware, the Government of India has laid emphasis on online transactions and digitalisation after the Demonetisation announced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister in the month of November, 2016. Further, we have selected this year's theme as "GO DIGITAL BE GLOBAL" In a two years’ time, all business transactions are going to be made online and issue of cheques is going to be a part of history.

BIA had organized a WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY on 26th April 2017 between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. at The Club, Opp: D.N. Nagar, Andheri (W).
The workshop was conducted by Mr.Sachin Dedhia – an independent Cyber Crime Investigator & also a Certified Ethical Hacker (EC-Council, USA to create the alertness & awareness in the safeguarding of business transactions from as cyber frauds, cyber espionage, malware attacks, Phishing and Cyber Crime Hazards, Hacking of Phone, Phone Morphing & it's Protection With live Demo.
The workshop of well attended by around 90 participants consisting of business owners & IT professionals.
The Association had organized 35 members BIA Business Delegation Visit to The Netherlands from 8th April to 16th April 2017.

The first Ec Meeting of the New President Mr Jeenanath Shetty started with a Rocking New Year Bash at the Mahogany hall of The club on 23rd December. More than 75 members and their family members enjoyed the evening and learnt some stylish new dance steps on the Bollywood music.
The installation ceremony of Mr. jeenanath Shetty as the new president of BIA and the handover by the then president Mr. Rajendra Kothari went on with Huge fanfare at the prestigious MCA Club at Bandra on 15th December 2016. Again living to its Reputation, the event started dot on time with most of the guests assembling much before time. The event was witnessed by 2 dignitaries from digital world who mesmerised the houseful hall with their visionary talk on digitalisation. It went along with the theme unveiled by the incoming President Mr. Shetty, 'Go Digital, Be Global'. BIA was honoured to have Mr. Sandeep Agarwal, the founder of Shopclues.com and Droop.com an online Marketplace as the Chief Guest and Mr, Rajesh Angelo, An Entrepreneur and motivational speaker as Guest of Honour.
The out going President Mr. Kothari took the opportunity to present the work carried out by BIA during the year. A video depicting the various events organised, its scale, the achievements some of them were major milestones and record breakers was shown followed by a speech where Mr. Kothari gave further details. The audience had no option but to give a standing ovation to the President who attributed the success to the entire OB and EC team and guidance of the past presidents. The emotional president then went on to handover the rein of BIA to Mr. jeenanath Shetty, an industrialist and Managing Director of Unitop Chemicals. The entire audience welcomed him with huge round of applause and were impressed by his introduction speech and the digitalisation theme for the year.
The new OB was announced with Mr. Ajit Singh and Mr.Prassana as Vice President and Mr. Siddharth Shenoy, the secretary, Mr. Sanjay Shah, treasurer, Mr. Nevil Sanghvi, Jt Treasurer and Mr. Ashish as Jt Secretary. It was followed by felicitation of Senior Past presidents Mr. Mayur Amin and Mr. Ajay Amin.
A Vote of thank was given by Mr. Ajit singh, thanking the guests, sponsors. Contributors and all the participants.
The crowd went berserk with all of them flocking towards the stage to wish the new president. The party went on till midnight with everyone looking forward to a another rocking year for BIA.
A wonderful opening ceremony by Jeenanath Shetty President, BIA along with Mayor of Mumbai Snehal Ambekar and other dignitaries at China Homelife & Machinex India 2016 fair at NSE grounds. The show was attended by over 700 exhibitors from China.
Bombay Industries Association organised an Industrial tour to Goa for their members from 24th to 27th November. There were 38 participants which was so far the largest contingent for the domestic industrial tours. Delegates visited IFB Industries Ltd home appliance Ltd Compnay which has installed capacity of making 3000 Washing machines in one shift. Next day we visited Mandovi Dry Docks Pvt ltd, A ship building company with a capacity of making 16 ships in a year and then to Vel-Vin Paper Product company which has a state of the art and completely automised corrugated box manufacturing facility with installed capacity of making 2.5 lacs boxes per day. All the Delegates highly appreciated the industry visits and were very happy with the overall itinerary of the tour.
Accidents and Incidents occur in Industries and in our daily lives but we do not pay much attention to that resulting loss in production, demoralization of employees, injuries, etc. In order to overcome this problem it is better to be trained on this subject of accident reduction. The Bombay Industries Association in partnership with The Economic Times ACETECH is organising THE ECONOMIC TIMES ACETECH GLOBAL GREEN SUMMIT 2016 on 12th November, 2016 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.
The Global Green Summitt, initiated in 2010, a unique initiative of The Economic Times ACETECH, with an objective to promote and discuss the strategic agendas for a sustainable future. The summit will focus on the global prospect of Green Building Industry and provides a one of a kind platform to create awareness about the latest innovations and technologies implemented towards the green future.
The Summit will allow the participants an opportunity to reach out to prospective stakeholders and share a vision for sustainable India. The Global Green Summit has a power packed agenda with emphasis on healthy debates in the form of panel discussions and case studies from India and around the world.
Since this is an important summit, members are requested to participate in the Summit and derive the benefit of 'green' ideas.
Bia and FISME this time again came together to do a round table discussion on GST. Members from different associations were present for the Discussion and raised their concerns about various nuances about GST.

The meeting was about arranging a B2B meeting of BIA members with their Swiss counter parts and in turn increase the reach of BIA members to Swiss business people.

The meeting was about the upcoming Industrial visit and B2B meeting of BIA members with their counterparts in Malaysia. The officers extended their full support for this visit and assured to help BIA team in this regard.
BIA in association with Thyrocare is organising multiple Blood check camps at a very very subsidised rate for BIA members and their employees. The Government of Maharashtra has notified proposed changes in the processes of registration, filing of returns, application for refund, requisitions for CST declaration, audit/assessments and appeals etc. The new SAP based system will be going live in a phased manner.
Further, the Parliament has passed the biggest tax reform post-independence (GOODS & SERVICES TAX), which is set to replace, the complex indirect tax regime currently being administered by the Centre, State and Local authorities. The biggest challenge for GST and for the Trade and Industry is how this array of regulatory activities will affect their organizations and, as a result, anticipate the imminent changes they need to make and those they can put on a long term plan.

When the year started our membership was hovering around 800 .. with our target of 1000 no where in sight. .. today we can say that we have not reached 1000 but have crossed it

An emotional farewell to our friend and the Commercial Attaché of Turkey to India, Mr. Bayri who served 4 years in India and did an excellent work for Indo-Turkey relationship. BIA shared excellent repo with Mr. Bayri who helped organise successful BIA business delegation trip to Turkey in 2014. A memento was presented by our Past President Mr. Amit Chaudhari and current President Mr. Rajendra Kothari to Mr. Bayri wishing him the best for all his future endeavour.
The Association has organized a Seminar on “SAP based VAT returns & Preparing of GST” on 24th August, 2016 to make members aware and oriented about the preparatory steps / actions for SAP based VAT returns & Preparing of GST.
SHRI GIRISH NEHETE, DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF SALES TAX addressed the Seminar and clarify the doubts on SAP based VAT Returns and GST.
The Association organized a Seminar on “Advanced Excel” on 10th August, 2016 to make members aware of advanced excel functions viz. how to structure and present date so that it look impressive, good understanding of excel features like tables, cell tiles, formatting option to make awesome excel workbooks.
The Seminar was conducted by Mr.Sarangapani, who is an expert having four decades of experience in organizing several training programmes, workshops, conventions.
The Seminar was over booked and about 31 members took part in the programme. The members present found the programme quite educative and got to know various nuances of Advanced Excel and suggested that the programme should be repeated periodically.
BIA president Mr Rajendra Kothari,along with Past Presidents Mr Shashin Shah and Mr Amit Chaudhari and BIA member Mr Nishit Salot had a Meeting with Consul General of Qatar His Excellency Mr Ali Al Mohannadi regarding their proposed International business visit to Qatar.
Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on June 21 and was declared to be internationally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline that originated in India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN Address suggested the date of June 21, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.
The Association had organized a BIA Business Delegation Visit to Poland from 2nd April, to 10th April, 2016. First time in the annals of the Association, 43 members participated in the visit. During the tour, the delegation visited Warsaw, Lublin, Wroclaw, Katowice and Krakow. The delegation visited Ursus S.A, Uni-Masz, Volvo, Govecs, femur Mining, Gobain Glass, 3M along with the study tour to Technology Park. During the delegation visit, B2B meetings and Seminars were arranged. The meetings and Seminars were attended by Senior Ministers and government officials.
The Association, jointly with Rotary Club of Bombay West and Christian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, organized a Public Meeting on “UNION BUDGET
PROPOSALS FOR 2016-2017” on 2nd March, 2016. Shri Dharmakirti Joshi, Chief Economist, CRISIL, explained the nuances of the
Union Budget Proposals from the economist’s perspective. CA Rtn. Shalin Divatia, eminent Chartered Accountant, explained in detail various
aspects and impact of the budget including Direct & Indirect Taxation. The presentations were followed by question-answer session.
More than 25 members from the Association attended the meeting and found the same quite informative.
It was that time again... the time when BIA members showcase their sporting prowess in the much awaited annual BIA 20-20 Night Cricket Tournament sponsored by ROMAN Group and Shri Bhupenbhai Chedda.
Along with the Team Eagles, Tigers and Hunters this year Team DRAGONS were formed to ensure more BIA members could participate in this fun family event. With our presidents lead on "Wellness Builds Business" and this month's focus on Physical Wellness the cricket event was taken up by the members with much enthusiasm.
A delegation comprising of Mr.Rajendra Kothari, a delegation company of S/s Rajendra Kothari president of Bombay Industries Association, had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Lezak Brenda, Consul-General of Poland and discussed with him the possible co-operation for the BIA Business Delegation visit to Poland. The delegation had a fruitful discussion and H.E. Consul-General of Poland assured Consulate of Poland's co-operation to the BIA Business Delegation visit to Poland.
A contingent of Polish Delegation headed by H.E. Piotr Glinski, the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland attended the Make in India Meet on 14th February, 2016. The President, Mr.Rajendra Kothari
was invited to a Dinner Reception hosted by Ambassador of Poland in honour of the Deputy Prime Ministerof Poland, and had the opportunity to discuss the BIA Business Delegation Visit to Poland and had useful interaction with H.E. Vice-President of Poland.. His Excellency welcomed the visit and offered to extend assistance for such a visit.
Bombay Industries Association jointly with Federation of Indain Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) organized a seminar on "Profit Mantras for Businesses with focus on Finance, Information Technology, Digital Marketing & Innovation" on 12th February, 2016 at the Orchid Hotel in Vile Parle (East) in Mumbai.
About 100++ BIA Members/audience participated in the seminar who were largely from the Manufacturing and IT sector.
Mr. Mukesh Kalra, Secretary, FISME was the MC for the evening and introduced the speakers. Mr. Rajendra Kothari, President, BIA welcomed the gathering.
Visiting new and varied industries in different parts of India and the world gives an entrepreneur great insights on many aspects of their own business.
This year President Shri Rajendra Kothari wisely selected Jaipur, Alwar and Neemarana as the location for the Industrial learning tour.
A record number of 35 members flew on 4th February to a cold Jaipur morning. Neemrana has many industries and a higher concentration of Indo Japanese companies.During the tour, the delegation visited Hero Motocorp, Metso Minerals Pvt. Ltd., Havels, Tafe Motors and Tractors Pvt.Ltd, Ceramic Tableware Company. The delegates were enthralled with the manufacturing facilities adopted by these companies and understood the Corporate Social Responsibilities of these large corporates.
The Association had organized a seminar on "Guidance for Implementation of ISO 9001:2015 on 29th January, 2016 with the objective to brief
participants about the new development, new structure and the change in content of the standard and impact on organizations and their quality
management systems. The Seminar provided useful value addition to participants knowledge and made them understand related provisions and obligations for better compliance. The Seminar also focused on problems that were faced in day-to-day implementation.
Shri Rajendra Kothari, President of the Association, along with Mr. Nevil Sanghvi, Jt. Hon. Treasurerhad a meeting with Hon’ble Mr. Subhash Desai, Minister of Industry and Hon’ble Mr. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Government of Maharashtra, on 19th January, 2016 to discuss the power situation prevailing in the Maharashtra State and measures to be taken to address the problems faced by the Industries.
A rocking start to the wellness them with the BIA Blue brigade hitting the standard chartered marathon 2016 with 102 runners, most of them first timers. The team led by the Bombay Industries Association (BIA) president Mr. Rajendra Kothari, a 6 time full Marathoner himself, was successful in creating enthusiasm which was seen across the team which had members from 12 to 75 years of age. All of them completed the 6 km dream run with full energy and excitement and promised to comeback next year with a much bigger contingent... the message was clear and in the air Wellness Builds Business.

Subhash Desai along with the dynamic MLA fromKolhapur Shri Rajesh Kshirsagar at Mantralaya on 12th January, 2016 to show its support for #MakeinIndia and also shared its dream of developing BIA Industrial park for its members, in the vicinity of Mumbai There were discussions on training skill-tests in collaboration with MSME and provide it to the industry.
BIA organised a new Year's Bash on 19th December, 2015 at Indulge Food Court to get everyone in the holiday spirits. This party is a much looked forward to event where members get to meet fellow members with their spouses in an informal setting. This year the organising committee took efforts to make the evening memorable.
A Fun Photo booth with funky props, Professional Salsa Team to teach members some salsa steps, rocking music along with some lip smacking food ensured that the members let their hair down and partied the night away.
The 3rd China Homelife India & China Machinex India 2015 was held between 14th to 16th December,2015 at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon. Bombay Industries Association President was given the honor to inaugurate the Exhibition along with dignitaries from Maharashtra Government and Chinese Counterparts.
Vice President Shri Ajit Singh Ahluwalia inaugurated the exhibition in the absence of Bia President. More than 30 BIA members were present for the opening ceremony, which also gave them a chance to interact with chinese manufacturers.

Shri Rajendra Kothari was installed as 52nd President of the Association, at this glittering function which was attended by more than 400 members comprising of BIA Past Presidents, Executive Committee Members, Industrialists, Politicians, Guests and family members.
